The function of a regulator is to:
- Reduce the high water pressure coming from the city mains to a lower functional pressure into a home.
(You can locate your regulator by where your main water line comes into your home. )
If you notice inconsistencies in the water pressure from your plumbing fixtures it can be an indication that the regulator in your home is no longer working properly. You can test the water pressure with a gauge. You want to make sure the water pressure to your home is about 40-45 psi. It should never exceed 60 psi, high water pressure can put extra stress on your pipes that can lead to a water leak.
